Updated: Mar 11, 2020

About This Game Conquer the Galaxy In This ‘4x’ Strategy Game. Lead one of 18 different alien races to become a mighty pan-galactic empire. Manage your colonies, deploy your fleets and conduct research. Plot your strategy and turn your planets into mighty bastions. Explore new star systems, where you may encounter tachyon storms, psychic plants, primitives or find abandoned alien technology. Diplomacy is of utter importance in being successful. Make pacts and alliances, make threats or ask for favours - and when the time is right, replace diplomacy by space combat and fight it out in real-time 3D. The trade system lets you trade valuable commodities between both your own and alien worlds. Alien relics, rare minerals, tourists, or even natural anti-matter, your freighters will carry them all. Although the game is complex, and the possible strategies endless, powerful help and advisor features, help you get up to speed quickly. Unlike many games in this genre, Armada 2526 Gold Edition focuses on providing a game that can be finished in a reasonable time, and emphasizes battle and strategy over economic micro-management. Game has a good variety of races and is pretty well made overall. Pretty easy to learn and for the sale price I completely enjoyed my purchase. The major dowmside is if you leave the game via alt tab or other form of minimizing you haved to restart the game but the games autosaves after every turn minimize the impavct of this.. I love making my own maps. This game is fun in the beginning but kinda becomes repetitive.By that I mean. I have to build up my 200 stars. ohh god let me tell you that gets tetidus after 50 stars. If you know how to splice files they are easy to slice into.prosbuild you own mapthey have cheatseasy to slice intosimple map not to complexeasy to learn after you get use to itconsI feel the ai cheats. come on I own 50 stars and he owns 7 and he has more gold then me?(on easy)its better to cheats/splice the game to enjoy (lol I know this is odd since this is a good reveiw)when in controlled combat the control of combat is crapy. (your better off doing the auto fight and not load into the fight.)The ai is so anoying( by this I mean you have advance tec. as in your ufo as they are stone ages. OMG enof with every round all 103 people trying to contac me for my tec. Every turn they call and you can't end your tune untill you veiw their trade and refused or acepted.Good gameI wish you could block the races from calling your cellphone allday every day lol (metaphore). Definitely dated. There is certainly some depth but the UI requires way too many clicks and feels reminiscent of 20th century games.Space combat is not very good.Checking your empire overall situation is cumbersome. There are many better options thatn this space 4X.. I have owned this game for over two years and i bought two seperate editions for each computer when (if i remember correctly) i bought the basic Armada 2526 and the expansion Supernova at $20 a pop. Twice, once for each computer. So now i have bought it on Steam and i have laid out $100.Now i can play it on either computer without porting problems. The game is by far more interesting to me as my years of playing it go on.Yes, it needs some creative tinkering to make it an even better game in forms of management. I would love to be able to find just the planets that have reserch staions that have become obsolete so i can both remove them and replace them without going through hundreds of planets,But if you like broad expansive strategy as well as figuring out how to make an economy work I think you will like this "game of chess with few limits.". Definitely dated. There is certainly some depth but the UI requires way too many clicks and feels reminiscent of 20th century games.Space combat is not very good.Checking your empire overall situation is cumbersome. There are many better options thatn this space 4X.. like this simple game.. I find this game lacking in comparison to other 4x space games. But for $22 it's alright. It's not a must have IMO, but if you must add to your 4X space game collection, then I recommend getting this on sale.. It is an amazing strategy game were you take command of a species to lead them to galactic victory. It has a very well designed economic system, a clean unhappiness system, and an amazing diplomacy system, even with AI. There is, however, one MAJOR flaw. The game has a bug where : If you attack an enemy colony, and do not choose to auto calculate the battle, the screen goes to the desktop exept for a GUI overlay. Then, after the battle is over, and the screen will remain black with a GUI overlay. Any text or windows that appear on the black screen will stay there even after closing them. Furthermore, saving the game and rebooting it does not help. Unless you plan on victory without fighting, you simply cannot win.
